Once the Test cases are created, we can run the tests in three methods. They are:

  • Dry Execution / Dry Run
  • Quick Execution / Quick Run
  • Normal Execution

Dry Run

It is used to test if the newly created Test Case is working as expected or not. It is a one-click method to execute newly created Test Cases but lacks the flexibility and power of Normal Execution. The Drawback of Dry Run is that only a single Test Case can be executed using it. For running multiple Test Cases, we use Quick Execution.

For performing a Dry Run,

  1. Firstly, we need to go to the Test Case Details page of the Test Case that we need to perform Dry Run on.
  2. Next, click on the Runbutton on the top right corner.
  3. After that, enter an Execution name and select the Execution Model from the list
  4. Finally, click on Create and Run button.

Quick Run

Quick run is similar to Dry Run in every aspect except that we can select Multiple Test Cases for Quick Run. Quick Run avoids the hassle of creating a Test Suite but similar to Dry Run, Quick Run too lacks the power of a Normal Execution.

For performing a Quick Run,

  1. Firstly, we need to navigate to the Test Cases page after selecting the Application to be tested.
  2. After that, we can select the required Test Cases in the list of Test Cases by ticking the checkbox located before the Test Case Name.
  3. Click on the Execution button on the top right corner to open the Create Quick Run overlay page.
  4. Enter the Execution name, select the Execution Model and click on Create and Run button.

Normal Execution

Normal Execution is the most powerful and versatile option to execute tests and it allows us to execute the tests on multiple execution environments simultaneously.

For performing a Normal Execution,

we need to create an Execution first and then add at least one Execution Environments to it. An Execution Environment specifies the environment specifications such as Operating System, Web Browser used, version of the Web Browser e.t.c
