Testsigma helps us in managing big projects by allowing us to add and manage multiple Applications, Application Versions, and their requirements simultaneously with minimum effort.

When creating a new Project, a default requirement will be created automatically and all the Test Cases in the Project will be mapped to this default Requirement unless modified.


After going through the hierarchy that Testsigma follows, you can continue creating the Requirement as given below in the Create Requirement section below.


Create Requirement

You can create a Requirement in two ways:

  • Create a Requirement from the Version details by going through Project Details > Applications > Version details page and clicking on Create Requirement button.
  • Create a Requirement from the Requirements page by going through Test Development > Requirements and clicking on Create button.


Following any of the two methods takes us to the Create Requirement page. The Create Requirement page looks as given below:



Enter the details as given below:

Name (Required): Enter a name for this particular requirement of your application.

Description: Enter a meaningful description of this requirement elaborating about it.

Type (Required): Select the type of this particular requirement from the list of available types.

Start Date (Required): The date(current or future date) by which the test development for the current requirement is to be started.

Completion Date (Required): The date(future date later than start date) by which the test development for the current requirement is expected to be completed.

Planned Manual Count (Required): The number of planned manual Test Cases to be created for this requirement.

Planned Automation Count (Required): The number of planned automation Test Cases to be created for this requirement.


Enter the details for your Requirement and click on the Create button. You will see a notification for successful Requirement creation and will be taken to Requirement Details page.

Note: You can edit/ Delete the Requirement from Test Development > Requirements page.


Sample Usage:

Below given is a sample Requirement for the 'OrangeHRM' Project:


Enter the details for your Requirement and click on the Create button. You will see a notification for successful Requirement creation and will be taken to Requirement Details page.


You can create Test Cases for the current Requirement from the Requirement Details page. Click on Create Test Case button on the top right corner to create the Test Case. Please check the below guide to know how to create Test Cases.

How to add / edit / delete a Test Case?


Note: A requirement is not mandatory in Testsigma to proceed with the Test creation. If we skip the Requirement creation, Testsigma will create a default requirement automatically.
